Collector's Car Insurance
Also known as collector's car insurance, this is a specialized category of insurance on autos that are valued highly not
only in monetary terms but also in appreciation and even affection.
Each insurance company will usually have a list of classic auto it will insure so check out what you may be able to get before
buying a car no matter what the year is. And your annual driving mileage will have to be low, some limiting it to no more than 5,000 miles per
year and you will not be allowed to use it commuting to and from work, business or commercial use, racing or for even daily
errands. You may only be allowed to drive it to and from car shows and for use in parades. You may be required to keep it under lock and key like
other valuables when not in use.
Here are some definitons of various classifications for automobiles but note that these are only general in nature. Each specific
insurer will have its' own.

Classic Vehicle - usually categorized as 20 to 24 years old from
the present year but each company can have its own definition. Some say it has to be pre-1973 |

Antique Vehicle - a minimum 25 years old from the present
year |

Exotic Vehicle- is a specific model/make/condition and 15 years
old that is considered to have special value |

Street Rod - usually manufactured before 1949 that has been
modified but retains the original desigh/identity |

Custom vehicle - like a Street Rod but manufactured after
1949 |

"Kit" vehicle - kit car that can be classed like an Exotic
vehicle depending on model/year |
 |
Veteran Cars: made before 1903 |
 |
Vintage Cars: Made in the years between 1903 and 1933 |
Note that you can get insurance on the appraisal value of your auto or on an "Agreed Value". This agreed value is something that is
worked out between your and the insurer.
